We are so blessed to have Noah as a part of our family. Today we are celebrating his 63rd day of life. However, I am sure that he would agree that you should NOT celebrate by getting shots at your two-month checkup with the pediatrician. Noah, our little milk pig, has grown 2 inches since birth and now weighs 11 pounds. This past week he has graduated from newborn to size 1 diapers. He has also reached a few more exciting milestones. Since Thursday he has been a MUCH better sleeper and today he put himself down for two of his naps. This past week he got to meet his Opa's side of the family, as well as some of Oma's relatives that are visiting from Germany.
Today is also my official last day with Symtio. Ryan and I have decided that I will stay home with Noah even though I have threatened to go back to work after a hard day—but that doesn't last long. I am hoping to still pick up some freelance work and will continue to pursue Stampin' Up!. It's a little scary quitting a good job in today's economy, but right now we are focusing on raising a family. I am very thankful to have this opportunity and a supportive husband. These past 63 days seem to have passed in a blink, I can only imagine how fast the years will go by.
Today I tried out our BabyBjörn carrier. I took Noah to the mailbox and then the neighbor's garage sale. We watered the flowers and did a little laundry and before I knew it, he was fast asleep. He seemed to like it as long as I kept moving, this is a definite do again!
This past weekend we took our first family portrait ... in our family room. Ryan found some cool fabric that might end up being the same material I use to make curtains. It made fora nice backdrop for our family photos too.
Noah is starting to lose his hair. I'm finding it everywhere, people might think we have pets. It's pretty stressful being a newborn apparently. Actually, this is something we were prepared for...it's the Klos genes. Most of Ryan's nieces and nephews were born with black hair, then it would fall out and blonde hair would grow in. We guessed Noah's hair would be pretty light too since Ryan was a towhead. We are still waiting to see what color his eyes will be, they keep getting lighter. Last night we measured him to see how much he has grown. I think his Oma pinched him because he has grown another inch. Noah is now 21 inches.
Ryan and I also think that we have solved the sleeplessness and fussiness mystery. Noah has been sleeping very little these past two weeks (15-45 minute naps and 1.5 hours at night). He was pretty fussy and it didn't seem to be gas that was bothering him anymore. We're guessing that he has acid reflux though he has not gotten a second professional opinion (besides Dr. Mom). We've spent the past several days experimenting with feeding and burping techniques as well as keeping him in a more upright position for sleeping, This seems to be helping. He has had a few sleep sessions ranging from 4 to 6.5 hours! He has also been a lot happier too. He is smiling more frequently, though still involuntarily. He has also been doing a lot more cooing. ...and spitting up.
