Walking to Save Lives

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, our family will be walking in the first Out of the Darkness Campus Walk in McHenry, IL. After losing my brother, William J. Hartmann II, to suicide two years ago this April it was time to bring hope to others who face depression or have lost a loved one to suicide.

In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 16 minutes, claiming more than 33,000 lives each year. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students, and the third for youth ages 15-24, with adolescent depression -undiagnosed, untreated or both- as the number one cause.

Help us build awareness and offer support to our area high school and college students. We hope you will join us on this 2-3 mile walk through McHenry and enjoy the live DJ and refreshments.
